Celebrating Concord’s 300th Anniversary
and America’s 250th Birthday
In 2026, the Concord community proudly celebrates a once-in-a-generation milestone—300 years since the founding of our city, originally known as Pennycook. Chartered in 1725, Concord has grown from a small riverside settlement into the vibrant capital city of New Hampshire, shaped by generations of residents committed to civic engagement, resilience, and progress.
This historic moment coincides with the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence—a defining milestone in our nation’s history. Together, these anniversaries offer a powerful opportunity to reflect on Concord’s role in the broader American story.
From its early days under colonial rule—when King George II formally established Concord as a separate township—to its evolution as the seat of state government, Concord has remained deeply connected to the ideals of independence, community, and self-governance that shaped the United States.
Throughout the year, residents and visitors alike are invited to take part in commemorative events, educational programs, and community celebrations that honor our shared past while looking ahead to the future. From parades and cultural events to historical exhibits and public gatherings, these milestones will bring our community together in celebration of both local heritage and national pride.
Join us as we honor 300 years of Concord—and 250 years of American independence.
